_EVANS Mr P H
(1951-1958)
Taught French Left to become Second Master at Hydneye House, Sussex. 1953 Inspectors report: he has distinct gifts as a teacher and speaks French with a very good accent. … the boys take pains over pronouncing French … much better than those in many schools, and they attain to a very fair comprehension of written French by the time they leave school. |

FARMER Mrs (1919-1931)
Taught French ‘It is with great regret that we say farewell to Mrs Farmer who has worked hard for the school for more than twelve years. Into her teaching she has put boundless energy and enthusiasm, coming early for weeks at a time in order to give extra French to Common Entrance Candidates. Many letters recently received from old boys bear witness that her work has been appreciated, both at their Public Schools and also, in more than one instance, when they were abroad.’ ‘Mr and Mrs Farmer have bought a very charming house in lovely country : St Mary’s Alfrick, Worcester and as they are only three miles away we hope that we shall keep in close touch with them.’ Easter 1931 Magazine Mrs Farmer died in 1953 |
FITZ-AUCHER Mr Robert W (1929-1930)
Was back for Bust Up in 1931 He went on to be Headmaster of Arnold House, but in 1940 had to give up this post due to ill health |
He has put in a tremendous amount of work in running the Colour System and in organizing the games; and in almost all school activities he has been largely instrumental in keeping up a high ideal of manliness, zeal and loyalty. There are many among us who owe him more than they, at present perhaps, know. One feels sure that in no way can they repay him other than by developing in such a way as to do credit to themselves and their school.

(She) is desirous of taking a course in physical training: we believe she is as sorry to go as we are to lose her. It will be difficult to find anybody who is so energetic and just in her dealings with the boys. She has done wonders with the school swimming and has made the dancing class very popular. (Summer 1929 magazine) |

_ JOHNSON Mr C R Ingram (1940-1946)
He brought .. a happy knack of teaching … Many boys owe to him the first dawning of their appreciation of the beauties and possibilities of the English language .. and … they will remember historical facts ineradicably imprinted on their minds through the medium of his history verses. (Spring 1947 magazine) |
I value Mr Johnson’s fifty-odd History Verses, which stitched together the fabric of English history in informative, but lighthearted, stanzas which could be sung to the tune of a lively plantation song. I still read my copy A.V. Claydon 1940-44 _(1989 magazine) |
