  Aymestrey School, Worcester

The Aymestrey School 50th Anniversary

50 years of Aymestrey School was marked by the presentation, by Old Boys and parents, of a new pavilion.

It is a most handsome structure, much larger than its predecessor, yet simple and dignified and fully in keeping with its surroundings. (Summer 1959)
_On Saturday 27 June 1959 the celebrations started with a buffet lunch in a marquee on the playground, followed by a short service in the hall:
The boys were on the stairs, in the position they occupy for carols, and the rest of the congregation filled the hall and overflowed into the adjoining rooms.

The company then assembled round the new pavilion .. the ceremonial opening was carried out by Tief, after which DAN Asterley expressed the School's gratitude and the present boys took formal possession of the pavilion and gave cheers for the donors (Summer 1959 magazine)

This was followed by a swimming display, then the boys went home for the weekend
leaving the School to the old boys, who were entertained to tea and later to a sherry party.
Mr and Mrs Mildmay returned for this celebration.
Later about 70 members of the OAA and their wives enjoyed the biggest assemblage at dinner that the Association has as yet had (at the Worcestershire Hotel, Droitwich).  It was a splendid evening, setting a worth seal on an unforgettable day.
